Being kicked out for calling out
Black Google Employee Said She Was Fired for Calling Out the Company’s Treatment of Minority Employees

That was the headline.
And I can definitely relate. Although I haven’t done that, I certainly feel like I’ve been fired because I believe I’ve called out mistreatment of me. While I didn’t name racism has a factor in those instances at the time, it’s both frustrating and validating to look back and realize how much my experience were the systems of institutional oppression at the nonprofits I worked at.
So my question for you this week, if you are currently employed, do BIPOC employees where you work feel safe and supported to call out problematic behavior without retaliation? And how can you be a part of putting anti-retaliation polices in place and/or shoring up the ones that already exist, explicitly through an anti-racism lens.
I strongly recommend checking out this article from the Root.
